Project Description:

The original design concept for the Parkview Warsaw YMCA was to capture the warm, homey feel of a contemporary lodge. This sense begins right at the entrance canopy with the wood trusses and ceiling. The large sunshade overhangs, metal roof panels and wood-look vinyl plank flooring continues that feel throughout various spaces within the facility.

 

With the Community in mind, the Y wanted to create community space within the facility. An inviting lounge seating area, pool viewing area, tech. cafe’, chapel and the Parkview Health Center for Healthy Living are all spaces located before the secured access to the facility, and are available to the public. These spaces, although functionally different, allow the public a place to gather for fellowship. In order to celebrate the natural and physical beauty of Kosciusko County the YMCA incorporated laser cut flooring materials in the shapes of the lakes of their region in the gathering area.

 

For this project, Y-USA’s new color palette reflecting the new YMCA brand identity was used. This color palette was used throughout the entire facility in order to create playful and vibrant spaces. The membership/wellness desk provides excellent visual supervision into multiple program spaces and can be staffed efficiently.

 

The site includes a detached maintenance & storage facility, an exercise path and an area for a future outdoor pool.
